Although me absorb most of the colour energy me require via our eyes, our skin also absorbs the light rays and the colours me wear. Not only that, me also absorb colours via the foods that me eat. This means that diet is yet another way of incorporating colour into our lives.
Each colour has a different effect on our cells and, consequently, on our bodies. In this way you can take colour inside of yourself, uplifting each and every part of your being, creating an internal balance, harmony and vibrancy.
The physical colour of food is a guide to the nutrients it contains. Red food works as a useful anti-oxidant. Beta-carotene and lycopene both play important roles in neutralizing free radicals and protect you from cancer. Red foods are also considered to be a good source of vitamin C. They can offer a psychological boost, increase your confidence, courage and drive, promoting healthy cell renewal and helping heal physical wounds. Good red foods include, red meat, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, plums, rhubarb, red peppers, kidney beans, red cabbage, red onions and beetroot.
Orange foods relate to the sacral chakra, governing the lower abdomen, playing a vital role in the digestion of food. Orange foods are helpful in strengthening or treating the colon, the kidneys, gall bladder and spleen.
Orange foods are beneficial when eaten earlier in the day, as they are warming and they will prod the body into action. Useful orange foods include oranges, egg yolks, carrots, butternut squash, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and orange spices like ginger, turmeric and cumin.
Yellow foods play an important role in supporting the energy system that is your body. They are easy to digest and provide plenty of sun-energy. Yellow foods are best eaten in the early or middle parts of the day.
Useful yellow foods include yellow melon, lemons, grapefruit, pears, bananas, pineapples, yellow peppers, turnip, swede, yellow tomatoes and courgettes.
Green foods are very plentiful and represent the colour of nature. Green heals, balances and restores. Green foods are beneficial at any time of the day. Green vegetables are rich in vitamin B, C & K, and including iron. The darker green the greater the nutritional value.
Useful green foods include cabbage, broccoli, artichoke, cucumber, pear, limes, green apples, lettuce, parsley, basil, tarragon, mint, oregano, kiwis, olives and avocado.
Blue foods are useful when it comes to balancing the energy of the reds and oranges. Blue foods encourage the body to be still and to conserve its resources. These foods are best eaten in the later part of the day, especially in the evening. Recommended blue foods include blueberries, plums, prunes, and dried fruits like raisins, seaweed, blue sage, marjoram and valerian.
Indigo foods relate more to the mental than to the physical. Foods with this colour play a part in detoxification and are best eaten late in the afternoon or early in the evening. Indigo foods include blackberries, blackcurrants, black cherries, black beans, figs, soy sauce, miso, and some seaweeds.
Violet foods have a tranqulising effect on our bodies. They are best consumed in the evening, just as the body is settling down to rest. These coloured foods include purple grapes, plums, cabbage, red onions, aubergines, lavender, thyme and sage.
I heartily recommend you incorporating at least one meal that includes all of the colours. This is a way of taking in the colours of the rainbow which will, in turn, balance your internal system which has the effect of balancing the external you.
My wish for you this week, is that you enjoy incorporating coloured foods into your everyday food, and that provides with another energetic and colourful week.
Vibrantly, Marcia x

Very helpful, especially to have foods listed in every color category and when is the best time to eat them.
